These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BookGlints (the "Service"), a browser extension and associated web services operated by BookGlints ("we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using BookGlints, you agree to these Terms.
BookGlints is a browser extension that scans publicly available book reviews on Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Royal Road using artificial intelligence to identify themes and user-defined things they want to find or avoid. BookGlints uses your own API key with an AI provider of your choice (Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI) — review text is sent directly from your browser to that provider, never through our servers. The Service helps readers make informed decisions before purchasing or reading books.
You must be at least 13 years old to use BookGlints. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You agree to use BookGlints only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
BookGlints and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by BookGlints and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our express written permission.
BookGlints accesses publicly available content from Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Royal Road. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Goodreads, StoryGraph, Royal Road, Amazon, or any other third-party service. Use of those platforms is subject to their own terms of service.
BookGlints requires you to supply your own API key from an AI provider of your choice (Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI). Your use of that provider — including their pricing, rate limits, and data handling — is governed entirely by your agreement with them, not by BookGlints. We recommend reviewing your chosen provider's own terms of service and privacy policy.
The one-time Auto-Scan unlock is processed by Paddle.com, acting as merchant of record. By making a purchase, you also agree to Paddle's terms of service and privacy policy.
BookGlints is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable. AI-generated analysis may contain errors or omissions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookGlints shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable international law. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction.
For questions about these Terms, contact us at support@bookglints.com.

This Privacy Policy describes how BookGlints ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our browser extension and associated services.
BookGlints has no user accounts and no backend server that handles your data. We collect very little:
Because so little ever reaches us, there is very little to use. What we do use is limited to:
BookGlints sends review text directly from your browser to whichever AI provider you've configured — Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI — using your own API key. We never see, store, or process this data ourselves. How each provider handles the data you send them is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms, not by us:
We recommend reviewing your chosen provider's policy, since data handling (including whether your data may be used for model training on free tiers) varies by provider and by plan.
We do not sell your personal information. Because BookGlints has no backend handling your review data, there is very little for us to share in the first place:
Extension settings and your API key are stored locally in your browser and are never sent to us — they persist until you change them or uninstall the extension, entirely under your control. A license key (if you've purchased Auto-Scan) is retained by our license-verification service indefinitely, so re-installing the extension or switching devices doesn't cause you to lose access — it is not tied to any personal information beyond the key itself.
Since we hold so little data tied to you individually, most requests are simple: uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored settings and your API key immediately. For questions about your license key or a purchase, contact us at support@bookglints.com.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited information we do handle. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
BookGlints is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service or on this page.
For privacy-related questions, contact us at support@bookglints.com.

We want you to be satisfied with BookGlints. This Refund Policy explains when and how refunds are available.
BookGlints' core extension is free. The only purchase is a one-time $9.99 unlock for Auto-Scan. If you're not satisfied, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. After 14 days, purchases are non-refundable.
To request a refund, contact us at support@bookglints.com with:
We aim to process all refund requests within 3 business days. Refunds are issued to your original payment method via Paddle. Once a refund is processed, your license key is deactivated and Auto-Scan will stop working.
We reserve the right to decline refund requests where we have evidence of abuse, fraud, or violation of our Terms of Service — for example, requesting a refund and then continuing to use a license key obtained through other means.
For refund questions, contact us at support@bookglints.com.
